The deepest layer of compatibility
Matchmaker AI will become the first dating platform to layer genetic compatibility data — specifically MHC immune profile matching — on top of psychological and behavioral compatibility science.
Why biology matters in attraction
For decades, relationship science focused on psychology — personality, attachment, values. That work is essential, and we use all of it. But there is a layer beneath psychology that no dating platform has ever addressed: your immune system.
The science of MHC compatibility shows that humans are biologically wired to be attracted to partners whose immune profiles are optimally different from their own. This is not mystical. It is evolutionary biology — and it may explain why some connections feel electric while others, despite looking perfect on paper, feel completely flat.
The science
The Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) is a set of genes that governs your immune system. Every person has a unique MHC profile — and research going back decades shows that humans are unconsciously attracted to partners with sufficiently different MHC profiles.
This preference is believed to be an evolutionary mechanism. Partners with different immune profiles produce offspring with broader, more robust immune systems — giving their children a better chance of survival. Nature has been doing compatibility matching far longer than any dating app.
The most famous study — the Sweaty T-Shirt experiment by Claus Wedekind at the University of Bern — found that women consistently rated the body odor of men with dissimilar MHC profiles as more attractive. The effect disappeared when women were on hormonal birth control, which artificially shifts preferences toward similar MHC profiles.
In plain terms: your immune system influences who you are attracted to at a biological level. And until now, no dating platform has ever tried to measure it.
Partners with dissimilar immune profiles produce children with broader immune coverage — nature’s built-in optimization for genetic health.
Research consistently shows people rate the scent, appearance, and chemistry of MHC-dissimilar partners as more attractive — independent of personality.
You meet someone who looks perfect on paper and feel nothing. You meet someone unexpected and feel everything. MHC compatibility may explain why.
Peer-reviewed research
Women consistently rated the scent of MHC-dissimilar men as more attractive. This foundational 1995 study sparked decades of follow-up research confirming the effect across cultures.
Couples with greater MHC dissimilarity report higher sexual satisfaction and higher relationship longevity — independent of personality compatibility scores.
Women on hormonal birth control show reversed MHC preferences — selecting similar rather than dissimilar partners, potentially contributing to post-discontinuation relationship problems.
The MHC compatibility effect has been replicated across dozens of studies in multiple countries and cultures, establishing it as a robust biological phenomenon.
Children of MHC-dissimilar parents show measurably broader immune coverage and lower rates of autoimmune disorders — confirming the evolutionary basis of biological attraction.
MHC research may explain why high-compatibility couples on paper sometimes lack physical chemistry — biology is not just background noise in attraction.
How we will use it
Our genetic compatibility feature is currently in development. Here is how it will integrate into your experience when it launches.
Members who want to add genetic compatibility to their profile can order a simple at-home cheek swab test for $90. The kit is mailed to your home, completed in under two minutes, and returned in a prepaid envelope. No blood draw. No clinic visit.
Our lab partner extracts only the MHC-relevant genetic markers from your sample — however, we do offer full genome sequencing for singles interested in producing offspring and want the additional layer of information available for family planning.
Full genome sequencing option: For members who are actively planning to start a family, our lab partner can provide a comprehensive genetic health report — covering carrier status, hereditary conditions, and broader compatibility markers relevant to offspring health. This is a separate optional service available at an additional cost.
Your MHC profile is added as an additional dimension in our compatibility scoring model — layered on top of your Big 5, Enneagram, Attachment Style, Love Language, and behavioral data. The result is the most complete compatibility picture any dating platform has ever assembled.
When your AI Matchmaker presents a match with high genetic compatibility, she will explain the biological dimension of the connection — why the science suggests you may have strong natural chemistry with this person, in addition to your psychological alignment.
Your privacy
We take genetic privacy more seriously than any other data we collect. Your DNA carries information about your health, your family, and your biological identity. We have designed our genetic compatibility feature with strict privacy protections from the ground up.
We are not a genetics company. We are a matchmaking company. The genetic information we collect is used for one purpose only: finding you a better match.
Your genetic data is never sold. Never shared. Never used for any purpose beyond compatibility scoring on our platform. You can request deletion at any time and we will destroy both your sample and your genetic profile.
MHC immune profile markers relevant to romantic compatibility. Full genome sequencing is available separately for family planning purposes.
Nobody. Your genetic data is never sold to third parties, health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, or advertisers.
Request deletion at any time. We will destroy your physical sample and permanently delete your genetic profile from our systems.
Genetic compatibility testing is never required for membership or matching. It is an optional enhancement for members who want the deepest compatibility layer.
Is this feature available now?
Not yet. Genetic compatibility matching is currently in development and will launch as a coming soon feature. Members who join now will be first in line when it becomes available.
Do I have to do the genetic test to use Matchmaker AI?
No. The $90 genetic compatibility test is entirely optional. Our core matching uses six psychological and behavioral frameworks — Big 5, Enneagram, MBTI, Love Language, Attachment Style, and Sexual Blueprint — and delivers exceptional compatibility without any genetic data.
What exactly is MHC compatibility?
MHC stands for Major Histocompatibility Complex — a set of genes that governs your immune system. Research going back to the 1990s shows that humans are biologically attracted to partners with sufficiently different MHC profiles, likely because it produces offspring with broader immune protection.
Do you offer full genome sequencing?
Yes — as a separate optional service. For members who are interested in family planning and want the most comprehensive genetic picture available, our lab partner can provide full genome sequencing covering carrier status, hereditary conditions, and broader compatibility markers relevant to offspring health. This is available at an additional cost beyond the standard MHC test.
Can you sell my genetic data?
Never. Your genetic data is used exclusively for compatibility scoring on our platform. It is never sold to third parties, health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, or advertisers. You can request permanent deletion at any time.
How is this different from 23andMe or ancestry testing?
Those services sequence broad sections of your genome to analyze ancestry and health traits. We analyze only the narrow MHC immune profile markers relevant to attraction and compatibility — with an optional full genome service available for family planning. It is a fundamentally different purpose with stricter privacy protections.
Join Matchmaker AI now and you will be among the first members invited to add genetic compatibility to your profile when we launch.
